The very first playing cards appeared in Eastern Asia. In Korea and China, the earliest mention of playing cards goes back to the 12th century CE.
No one really knows how playing cards came to Europe, but it is believed that the route they took was as follows: China – Persia – India – Egypt – Europe.
Playing cards are first mentioned in Europe in the XIV century – the chronicle of the city of Bern, Switzerland alludes to them in its records for the year 1367.
