Cut Paper Moroccan Playing Cards by Louise Heng

I am currently working as a designer in Montreal with a focus on branding, web and UX design.

I created a set of cut-paper playing cards influenced by the culture and style of the country of Morocco.

The cards must explore derivative shapes as well as costuming, pattern and colour theory, all pertaining to my chosen culture of Morocco. In addition, they must also be symmetrical and have an obvious visual hierarchy.

The cards were initially drawn by hand and then brought into Illustrator to perfect the shapes and patterns. I then cut each card by hand with an x-acto knife and it was glued together using a combination of spray glue, double-sided tape and rubber cement.
